After last week discussion about getting ideas to be finalize. I am very confuse on the which one to choose so I make an appointment with Nick to talk about the ideas. I told him that I am thinking of a first person shooter games level in UDK and what kind of research I got to do.
He ask me about the settings of the games like where is the game going to be set, what time, when, and more. I have no idea about it. He also told me that a first person shooter is a very common game genre in the game industry all the game have the same type of idea, walk around a world shooting and saving. All first person shooting game is base on this idea and he ask me to think more. Look into different genre and look at what is that I am going to do, What kind of selling point if I am going to build a first person shooter, what is it different from others, what unique point that i have in my game that others don't have.
But I was very unsure so he ask me to look into different types of first person shooting game and see what the lighting of the game is set. Then look into the building and places how is it compared to the real world and get some picture of the game and real world and compare them. And also look into the production line of the games. This will help to know how a game company production line is working and how is it flow. Like which section of the projects go first, the Initial idea, then to pre-production and so on.
I have take down all this idea. After the meeting I start to look for some popular game of first person shooting games and research into it.

Post 8 - ACM Draft Report
This week session we are focussing on task two draft report. Each of us speak to Salam or Nick and talk about what kind of research and ideas for the final year project. But at this point I am still very lost of what kind of things I will be doing after the master. I am thinking to get into a game company. I have come up with a few ideas but not confirm which one i am going to choose.
These is my idea:
1. Game Level design
This will be using UDK to build playable game level
2. Modelling
This will include using 3D max to model and animate
3. Character design
This will be to design a character for a game
These three ideas have come out of my head but I am not sure which one to choose. I am more on the game level design because this is what I came in for the master course. But i also like to model using 3D max this a section that can draw my attention. I am doing a Game Authoring course which will be using UDK to build level. Mile stone 1
After all feedback and the research I have complete the task one research. This research will include some of the research that I have done for my other module and also some areas that I am interested in. This will guide me of with what I will looking forward to for my final part of the research.

Mile Stone 1 Research
The first thing that I research for the task one was the 3D Computing Technology on photo realistic modeling. This research is adapted from the other module of 3D Computing Technology. I have look into the 3D modeling skills, 3rd Party Renderers that will help the model to look realistic and also Vray Renders an plug in for 3D max for reality rendering.
Then for the second research is for the Circle Game Play. I have look into character design for games. I look into different journals that talks about character design for example :
Mirjam Eladhari and Craig A. Lindley (2009) "Digital Games Research Conference" Zero Game Studio
Emotive game play, player character, mind modeling, MMORPG, emergence, Massively Multiplayer, characterization.
Petri Lankoski (2004) "Character Design Fundamentals for Role-Playing Games"
Understand how player experiences the game, depends on the player to design the game. Set the Goals, Habitus and emotions depending on the player. Then design the character, then from character to game
Henry Jenkins (2005) "Games Design As Narrative Architecture"
The question among the game fans, designers, and shcolars in the relationship between games and stories.
Then I start to compare two of the character design software Z-Brush and Mudbox. This two software is usually use in games company and some freelance company.
The last part for my research is to look into cars. This is the area that I am most interested in. I have look into different car racing games and some super cars. Then I have also look into different kind of car racing that is going on in the real world. For example the touring car racing, Rally car racing, Formula One and more. All this racing is still happening around us. I also look into car turing and custom car vinyl. Car tuning I look into which part of tuning will do what effect to the car . Custom car vinyl is very popular in Japan they sticks different type of sticker on the car and also they have different kind of choices to choose.

Mile Stone 1 Draft
After the last post I have speak to Brian the Course leader. He told me that the collaborative practice is not very suitable for the research practice. He recommend me to look into what I am interested. For example( cars, some design or things like that). Since I am interested jn cars so I have research a bit into cars and Brian have give me some direction on researching in cars,(for example car racing, sports car, and the car paint design). After the meeting with Brian I take his recommendation and change the idea of collaborative and change it to car. I will look into more detail for the next upload.

Post 4- Research Idea's (more research)
This week we are ask to think of your module and how are we going present our research for Task One. We are ask to think of a "Mind Map" of the area that we are going to research in. A few software have been shown to us on this session so that we can get all our idea and put it in mind map. The software Prezi is a very useful tools to use for mind mapping because it has a large are where you can work on so that you can arrange your information.
So then I have think of my module and the research that I have done i come up with a diagram.
This is all the modules that I am doing now. This is just a brief idea of what I will be covering. The middle bit that all circle have cross is the area that i will be looking at for the final research. This will be shown to the lecturer for next week for some feedback on this idea.

Post 3 Research Practice Ideas
This week's Research Practice was conducted by the group leader for Interactive Media, Salam Strudwick. During the session she ask each of us to think about what are we going to do after the Masters and what we are aiming for.
After we get some ideas we tell her what our aims are and which area are we going to do it. Then she suggested us to go to some of the undergraduates tutorials and workshops for relevant technique. I told her that my idea was to build a game level. Then she ask me to think more about it.
